Strangeways, Here I Come!
Hello and welcome to the music side of my mind (which takes up most of it). While I was thinking of what to write about for my first post, I thought, why not talk about what I really love. The 80s. But not Top 40s "Safety Dance" 80s music; I'm talking about alternative rock. The Smiths. Now stop me if you think that you've heard this one before ;) but THE Smiths are an English alt rock group made up of Johnny Marr, Andy Rourke, Mike Joyce, and of course the legendary vocalist, Morrisey. If you haven't listened to them go look them up, but be prepared for quite honestly the greatest sense of humor portrayed through alternative music I've ever heard. For example, the intro to "Some Girls are Bigger Than Others" is so accurate to their message. Haha! Who would've thought to dramatically change the dynamics of the instruments to portray some girls being bigger than others. Lol, they are highly entertaining. I would suggest listening to "Girlfriend in a Coma" or "Unhappy Birthday" to capture the essence of this band. It's beautiful music, and then you listen to the words and it's just perfect. "There were times when I could have murdered her" is what Morrisey sings about his girlfriend in a coma. Am I the only one that thinks this is hilarious? Anyways, now you are getting a feel for the sense of humor and exquisite music taste this college student has! Stay tuned for more and go listen to The Smiths. Laugh and cry with them. I promise you won't regret it; I'm always right.

My favorite Smiths songs are Paint a Vulgar Picture, Cemetery Gates, Shoplifters of the World Unite and Big Mouth Strikes Again.
